Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. doesn't think the club overpaid to extend the contract of first baseman Ryan Howard.
Some believe that the five-year, $125 million deal Philadelphia gave Howard on Monday was excessive.
"We're typically not a club that sets markets," Amaro said. "And I don't view this as a market-setting deal. But we feel like this is an equitable deal for both sides."
