The Padres logged just one hit on Tuesday, but still managed to beat the Giants. Chase Headley ran that hit into the game?s only run and Mike Adams and Heath Bell pitched their way out of jams in the eighth and ninth, respectively, in relief of Mat Latos as the Padres scored their fifth straight win. Jonathan Sanchez, who last July 10 in San Francisco became the seventh pitcher to no-hit the Padres, combined with Sergio Romo to throw the 29th one-hitter ever against the Padres. Tuesday was the second time in Padres history that they won with one hit. That hit was Headley?s sharp leadoff single to center in the fourth. The third baseman stole second (his third steal of the game) then advanced to third on one of the season?s stranger players.
