Phil Hughes has an eye on a spot in the starting rotation of the Yankees this coming season. Hughes was very successful as a reliever in 2009. "I'm out of the reliever mind-set for right now," Hughes said. "So I'll go in and do what I'm used to doing and see how it plays out." Both Hughes and Joba Chamberlain are preparing as starters this spring, but there is only one spot available with CC Sabathia, A.J. Burnett, Javier Vazquez and Andy Pettitte under contract. "It's kind of one of those things that really doesn't need to be said," Hughes said. "We'll go in there and do what we do. "Sometimes you have to fight for a job just like everybody else in the world. Sometimes you're buddies with a guy you're going for the same job with. It's just the way it works out, the business aspect. I'm sure there will be some joking around about it come spring training."
