Mets general manager Omar Minaya is optimistic despite the team's lack of big deals so far this offseason. "So far, the timing of the deals have not been there," Minaya said Tuesday. "I feel comfortable that when we get to Opening Day our team will be better than it was last year." The Mets have caught criticism in New York for missing out on both Roy Halladay and John Lackey, the top two pitchers that were available this month.
