Alex Rodriguez initiated a collision at home plate on Friday night and said afterward that his surgically-repaired hip feels fine. He ran through a stop sign in the bottom of the fifth inning, crashing into Angels catcher Jeff Mathis. He was called out on the play, which many rode him for in the close game. "I'm OK," Rodriguez said after New York's 4-1 win. As he approached third base on a line-drive by Hideki Matsui, third base coach Rob Thomson briefly waved him home. Putting his head down to run, Rodriguez missed Thomson's decision to stop him as he reached the bag. "Once I saw the go, I put my head down," Rodriguez said. "It was my mistake." "Once I screwed up, I just figured my only shot to be safe was just to run him over."
