There may be some backlash about Mark Prior's name surfacing in the Miguel Tejada trade talks. USA Today Sports Weekly reported Prior is "peeved that (the Cubs) were willing to trade him to Baltimore." A major league source said Prior's name came up in conversations with the Orioles, but added there were no offers made and that the Cubs were not shopping Prior. Prior will likely discuss the matter with the media Friday during the opening day of the Cubs Convention. Don't expect him to publicly lash out at the organization, even if he is miffed. Cubs general manager Jim Hendry said he has not yet talked with Prior about the matter. "I would have no problems talking to Mark about it," Hendry said Wedneday during the Cubs Caravan stop at the Renaissance Center in Joliet. "He knows exactly what I'm all about. He knows I don't do anything but give players straight shots. "In any kind of deals, names are bantered around. It wasn't a situation as reported that there was a framework in place and on somebody's lap to decide. That was never the case."
