Derek Jeter is set to surpass Lou Gehrig on New York's all-time hit list Friday night. Jeter pulled even with Gehrig thanks to three hits on Wednesday night. The pair sit atop the storied franchise with 2,721 hits. "I don't know if you ever sit down and really try to imagine it. You just try to enjoy it," Jeter told the New York Post. "I've had a tough time in my career enjoying things as they happen, because I'm always trying to look to the next game, but I didn't want to go in there with any preconceived notions of what may happen. "I just wanted to enjoy the moment, and I think it was more than I probably could have imagined." The shortstop's parents, Charles and Dorothy, have been attending games in anticipation of the record. "I think they're tired of coming every day. ... I'm sure they're hoping I can get a hit and get it over with," Jeter added. "But my parents have been supportive my entire career and it means a lot to me to be able to share this experience with them, so I'm happy to be able to do it here at home."
