The Mets are unlikely to get top sluggers Carlos Delgado and Gary Sheffield back before the end of the 2009 season. New York manager Jerry Manuel isn't confident that either will make it back. "I don't foresee him playing," Manuel told the New York Daily News of Sheffield, adding that Delgado is "pretty close to being out" for the rest of the season. Both players will hit the free agent market after the season, and the Daily News believes that they are unlikely to return to the Mets.
