Brewers general manager Doug Melvin has spoken to the Blue Jays about pitcher Roy Halladay. "We've had a conversation with them," Melvin told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel on Friday. "I don't want to get into the details. I don't want to characterize it at this point." Toronto has made it known that they are looking for a sizable package for Halladay, and it is unlikely that Milwaukee would be able to construct an acceptable package. "I've said it would be highly unlikely (to trade either)," Melvin said of top prospects third baseman Mat Gamel and shortstop Alcides Escobar. "They are as 'untouchable' as any player can be. I don't want to say anything more."
