Angels closer Brian Fuentes claims that the commissioner's office kept him from pitching in Tuesday night's All-Star Game. Fuentes told the Los Angeles Times that AL manager Joe Maddon told him that he would pitch the sixth inning, but MLB bumped him. "That bumped me from my inning," Fuentes said. "It's kind of crazy they would have their hand in making up the lineup." Just hours before the game, Fuentes was told by AL pitching coach Jim Hickey that there had been a "misunderstanding" and the commissioner's office wanted starting pitchers to work two innings. That meant there would be one fewer inning for AL pitchers in the game, squeezing Fuentes out of the action. "That soured me a little bit," Fuentes said. "To think that someone in MLB would dictate who pitches when and where, that is not the way the game is supposed to be played."
