Yankees manager Joe Girardi held Derek Jeter out of Wednesday's loss to the Nationals. Jeter left Tuesday night's game with a sore left ankle, and didn't want to miss a game. "My thought process is he goes out there and irritates it again, then we're back at square one," Girardi said. He appeared to injure his ankle while running to first base on Tuesday, but Girardi mentioned that he may have suffered the injury in Sunday's 15-0 win over the Mets. "It wasn't a particular play where I felt something," Jeter said. "I just think it just progressed. It"s not a big deal. I could play if they let me."
