Free agent pitcher Matt Morris, the club's No. 1 offseason target, has signed a multi-year contract worth about $27 million and will be introduced to the Bay Area media Monday afternoon, general manager Brian Sabean has announced. "Simply put, Matt Morris is a winner," said Sabean. "He's a 'gamer' who not only gives his team a chance to win every time he pitches, but as his record indicates he's around to collect the win himself. Matt will be a perfect complement to the top of the rotation and provide valuable leadership to our younger pitchers." The Giants have scheduled a press conference for 3 p.m. PT at SBC Park. Sabean said he would not be satisfied with a lower-tier hurler. Morris, 31, solidifies the Giants rotation, anchored by hard-throwing ace Jason Schmidt, who was relatively ineffective last season due to arm problems. With youngsters Noah Lowry and Matt Cain solid, the Big Four is now set, with Brad Hennessey penciled in as No. 5.
