Phillies pitcher Brett Myers is headed towards hip surgery, which would shelve him for 3-to-4 months. Myers hopes that he would be able to return for the postseason, if Philadelphia qualifies, after having the torn labrum fixed. The injury is similar to what second baseman Chase Utley went through at the end of last season. "It's like Chase's," agent Craig Landis said. "Brett said it's probably a little worse, but they are saying 3 to 4 months, probably 4 months, but Brett is pretty tough, a pretty quick healer. It'll be toward the end [of the season] if at all. If he had surgery, his new goal will be to get it right away and try to get back for September and certainly October."
