Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez collapsed in pain with back spasms on Saturday and had to be taken to a Boston hospital. Rodriguez said he suffered back spasms for the first time in his career while running during pregame warmups. He was unable to pitch, and J.J. Putz closed out New York's 3-2 win over Boston. The Mets gave K-Rod some muscle relaxers in an attempt to ease the pain, but he collapsed after trying to leave the clubhouse under his own power. "I've never been through the type of pain I'm having right now," Rodriguez said. "It's a struggle even to walk."
