New York Mets manager Jerry Manuel has been suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount for his aggressive arguing and inappropriate contact with Umpire Bill Welke during the top of the eighth inning of his club's game against the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday night at Citi Field. Bob Watson, Vice President of On-Field Operations for Major League Baseball, made the announcement. Manuel will serve his suspension this afternoon, when the Mets host the Pittsburgh Pirates.
