After Sunday's game was rained out, the Mets will give Johan Santana extra rest and push his next start back to Wednesday at Citi Field against the Phillies. Santana threw on two extra days of rest just twice last season. "With this being still almost spring [training], I think the more rest the better for him," Mets manager Jerry Manuel said. "Anytime we can get him an extra day here or there, and then maintain a rhythm for him, I think it will be good for him." Santana was 3-1 with a 1.10 ERA in April.
