Florida Marlins All-Star left-hander Dontrelle Willis has joined Carlos Delgado in signing letters of intent to play in the inaugural World Baseball Classic next spring, with Josh Beckett and Miguel Cabrera among Marlins teammates expected to join them, the Palm Beach Post reported. It will be the first time Delgado will represent Puerto Rico since the 1995 Caribbean Series. "I feel extremely proud, especially since I've never had the opportunity to represent Puerto Rico in a world event of this magnitude," Delgado said. A point of concern among baseball officials is a risk of injuries, something Willis says can happen in in a spring training game or pitching in the WBC. "I'm not saying don't worry about it, but it's one or the other," Willis told Palm Beach Post. "You just have to suck it up and represent your country. We're all investments, whether we make $1 million or $10 million, so I understand [teams'] concerns."
