The Braves have officially ended their pursuit of Padres' ace Jake Peavy. Atlanta general manager Frank Wren called Padres general manager Kevin Towers on Thursday and notified him that the Braves would no longer "actively pursue" Peavy if an agreement wasn't reached by the end of the day. On Friday, Wren and his staff turned their attention toward Derek Lowe, A.J. Burnett and some of the other top pitchers on the market. "We've notified the Padres that we're moving on to pursue other opportunities and players," Wren said. "We're no longer actively pursuing Jake Peavy. We have other options out there."
