Paul Konerko ranks as the biggest name among prospective free agent hitters this winter -- count the Los Angeles Times among the most recent journals to speculate that the Red Sox will be hot on his trail -- but if White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen has his way, Konerko's name never will come in play. ''Paulie is our leader on the field and off the field," Guillen said yesterday. ''I think this kid, a lot of people look up to him. One guy who shows up to play every day is Paulie. Paulie when we needed him was there." Guillen smiled when he thought about how his unabashed affection for Konerko might affect negotiations, especially when he went out of his way to make sure Konerko collected his 100th RBI during the regular season. ''I don't think [owner] Jerry Reinsdorf or [general manager] Kenny Williams likes it because it's more money for him," Guillen said. ''I think that's how much they love him, when you deserve and you earn that respect, that's what you do for your teammates. When he drew the 100 RBIs, everybody jumped up in the dugout and was so happy for him that he did it." Konerko began the night with four home runs, two against the Red Sox in the division series, two against the Angels. He came up in the first inning with a chance to hit a home run, just as he had done in each of the previous two nights, but lined to right.
