The Pirates have agreed to terms on three of their selections from the 2008 First-Year Player Draft. Pittsburgh signed David Rubinstein, an outfielder from Appalachian State University. The team's 11th round pick, Rubinstein hit .332 (75-for-226) with 19 doubles, nine home runs, and 48 RBI in 59 games as a junior this year at Appalachian State. They also signed Tyler Cox, a 35th rounder, who is a left-handed pitcher from Illinois State University. He went 4-4 with a 4.55 ERA in nine starts as a senior. Finally, they signed Kyle Morgan, an outfielder from the University of San Francisco who was picked in the 35th round. He hit .298 with 15 doubles, six home runs, and 50 RBI as a senior at the University of San Francisco.
