Former catcher Mike Lieberthal signed a one-day minor league contract Sunday and officially retired as a member of the Phillies, as reported by the Associated Press. Lieberthal spent 13 of his 14 years in the Major Leagues with the Phillies. He signed with the Dodgers last winter and played in only 38 games as a backup to Russell Martin. Lieberthal threw out the ceremonial first pitch and received a warm ovation from the fans.
