Twins shortstop Jason Bartlett won't need surgery on his right shoulder, after a second opinion Monday concurred with the diagnosis offered by the team's medical staff. Bartlett was examined by noted specialist Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala., where rest and rehabilitation were recommended. Bartlett has dealt with soreness in his neck and shoulder throughout the season. He led all major league shortstops with 26 errors, but Twins General Manager Bill Smith wouldn't attribute those to the injuries. "There's a rehab program they want him to follow, which is consistent with what our people had believed," Smith said.
