New York Mets outfielder Moises Alou extended his hitting streak to 27 games Sunday, setting a franchise record and giving him the longest in the major leagues this season.
Alou hit an eighth-inning RBI single to center off Florida Marlins reliever Justin Miller, passing David Wright for the best streak in Mets history.
"Moises has had a great second half," Mets manager Willie Randolph said Sunday. "He's basically carried us in a lot of ways. ... Still one of the best clutch hitters in the game."
