Cardinals right fielder Juan Encarnacion was discharged Tuesday from Missouri Baptist Medical Center, but doctors have yet to decide when surgery will take place to repair Encarnacion's fractured left eye socket. Manager Tony La Russa and several Cardinals players visited Encarnacion on Tuesday. Head trainer Barry Weinberg has seen Encarnacion daily since he took a foul ball to his left eye while standing on deck in Friday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. Encarnacion continues to wear a patch over his traumatized eye but has experienced gradual improvement in recent days, according to Weinberg. The veteran outfielder can see fingers put before his face, and swelling and bleeding in the area have diminished. However, Encarnacion, who also suffered a concussion, continues to have serious headaches.
