Benitez Makes Minor League Rehab Appearance

Closer Armando Benitez pitched one inning for Class A San Jose in his first rehab assignment as he tries to come back from a serious hamstring injury.
Benitez walked one and faced only three batters -- getting a double play to end his 14-pitch outing.
The Giants expect that Benitez will need several rehab assignments before returning to the majors.
Benitez was injured April 26 while covering first base on a routine play for the final out of a game against the San Diego Padres. He had surgery to reattach two tendons to his pelvis.
The Giants signed him to a three-year contract with $21.5 million last winter to be the dominant closer they've lacked since Robb Nen's career-ending injury in 2002.
