Trevor May will begin the season in the bullpen for the Minnesota Twins.
May had been competing with Tommy Milone, Ricky Nolasco and Jose Berrios for the No. 5 slot.
The right-hander struggled in his last outing, allowing four runs (three earned) over 2 2/3 innings against the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday.
"We are going to put him in the bullpen," Terry Ryan said. "I don't know how they'll use him. If he throws two innings, three innings, I don't care. I kind of like those multi-inning relievers."
