Jose Valverde is back in baseball according to Baseball America on Saturday.

The report said the Padres have signed Jose Valverde to a minor league deal in addition to left-hander Scott Ebert and right-hander Marcos Mateo.

Valverde, a right-hander, has spent 12 seasons in the majors and was most recently a member of the Mets. Valverde appeared in 21 games for the Mets last season, but posted a 5.66 ERA and was released in late May.

Although Valverde is a three time All-Star, he is 36 years old and hasn’t played a full season since 2012.
