Jon Lester, who can become a free agent after the season, will have his contract situation solved by Opening Day.
It remains to be seen if he'll sign an extension with the Boston Red Sox, or opt to table talks until next offseason.
Lester said an offer similar to the one Max Scherzer received from the Detroit Tigers received would be "hard to walk away from."
Detroit reportedly offered Scherzer a six-year, $144 million deal.
