The Tigers added some depth to their bench for the final few weeks of the season Friday, claiming first baseman-designated hitter Matt Stairs off waivers from the Rangers. Stairs began the season with the Royals, hitting .261 with eight home runs and 32 RBI in 77 games before being shipped to Texas at the July 31 trade deadline. The 38-year-old batted .210 with three homers and 11 RBI in 26 contests with the Rangers.
