Barry Bonds left the Giants' game against the Padres on Friday night with a contusion in the quadriceps area of his left leg. Padres starter Jake Peavy plunked the slugger in the first inning and Bonds grimaced and stood in pain in the batter's box for a short time before slowly walking to first and staying in the game. But he had trouble running to first following a leadoff single in the third. Todd Linden entered as a pinch runner for Bonds, then took over in left field. The Giants said Bonds' status was day to day. The Giants defeated the Padres 8-2, behind winning pitcher Matt Cain.
