Chicago Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood, rehabbing from a strained right shoulder, is expected to make two more Minor League rehab starts, beginning Sunday in Nashville. Wood threw 46 pitches over three innings Monday night for Triple-A Iowa, and all reports indicated he had no pain or problems, and his velocity was good. The Cubs wanted the right-hander to throw 60 pitches but rain delayed the game, and Wood didn't come back when play resumed after a 57-minute wait. "We're looking at three [starts] and then we'll evaluate it at that time," Cubs manager Dusty Baker said Tuesday. "But it's not etched in stone that it's three." If Wood throws 60 pitches on Sunday, he would then be projected to throw 75 to 90 in his third rehab start before being ready to be activated. "I'd like to have him back tomorrow but that's not the case," Baker said. "He needs some more work. As long as he gets the work and doesn't feel anything and is progressing in a positive forward manner, that's all we can ask for."
