The Marlins will open their new ballpark in the spring and they are expected to increase their payroll to more than $80 million and possibly as high as $100 million, according to Major League sources. So far this month, Miami has made offers to free agents Albert Pujols, Jose Reyes and Mark Buehrle. Some have viewed the contracts as nothing but introductory offers and perhaps simply a public relations move, but an agent disagrees. "I think it's genuine, and they have to be taken seriously," said one agent.
