Thome, Giambi Haven't Been Placed On Waivers

The Phillies would like to add a left-handed bat to their bench, but two possibilities haven't yet been placed on waivers.
Jim Thome and Jason Giambi could remain with their respective teams through the end of the month.
If Thome and Giambi hit waivers, teams are expected to try and claim the pair in order to keep Philadelphia from adding either of the sluggers.
Johnny Damon, who has cleared waivers, is an option for the Phillies, but he's never played in the National League.
