Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols has shown "significant improvement" in recovering from a broken left wrist. He will likely return much earlier this originally expected, according to The St. Louis Post-Dispatch. A CT scan taken on Friday revealed that the fissure on the distal tip of the slugger's left radius has diminished. Pujols, who was put on the 15-day disabled list June 20, was batting .279 -- 50 points lower than his career average.
