The Mets have notified Major League Baseball that they believe the Braves tried to slow down speedy shortstop Jose Reyes with wet infield dirt on Tuesday night. "That's just part of the game," New York manager Terry Collins said on Wednesday. "We all know that a lot of times you alter your field to benefit your own team. That's no big deal." Collins even conceded that the Mets keep the infield grass at Citi Field "just a shade longer" in order to slow grounders produced by their sinker-balling staff. Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez denied any intent with respect to the infield dirt.
