White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen worked his 1,200th game with the franchise on Thursday night against the Athletics. In his eighth season as manager, Guillen is tied with Terry Francona of the Red Sox for the fourth-longest current tenure with one team behind Tony La Russa of the Cardinals (1996), Mike Scioscia of the Angels (2000) and Ron Gardenhire of the Twins (2002). "I never thought it would be that tough," Guillen said. "But I never thought it would be this fun. The day I don't have fun in this game, believe me, I'll leave." Guillen, who has a 631-569 record, credited his players for keeping him employed. "The only reason I'm still here is because [general manager] Kenny [ Williams] gave me good players in the past, and he gave me good players in the present," Guillen said. "If they give you bad players, you'll get fired. I think Kenny and [chairman] Jerry [ Reinsdorf] and [assistant GM] Rick [ Hahn] put a good ballclub together, made me compete. That's the only reason you survive."
