The first half of the baseball season has been marked by dominating pitching performances, but hitters had their day on Wednesday. A season-high 47 home runs were hit on Wednesday, including three by Washington's Adam Dunn and a pair each from Matt Holliday, Buster Posey, Casey Kotchman and Martin Prado. An average of 29 homers have been hit per day in the seven days since the calendar flipped to July.
