The Nationals will begin giving pitcher Stephen Strasburg days off in the second half of the season in an attempt to limit his innings. Strasburg will pitch every five days until the All-Star break, then a different situation will kick in. When there is an off-day, Washington will push Strasburg back a day. The team could also give him time off during the first two weeks of September, then pitch the rest of the month. He is expected to pitch 150 to 160 innings in 2010. "We are going to give him more time between starts just because we want to stretch him out a little longer during the season," general manager Mike Rizzo said. "We have a lot of different ways we could go. We are going to be cautious with him and we are going to do the right thing by him. As part of his development, we want to get him through the month of September because he has never done that before."
