Mets ace Johan Santana says that he'll be ready for spring training. Santana had surgery on Tuesday to remove bone chips from his pitching elbow. "One thing we have to do next year is to take care of ourselves and try to stay healthy, for sure," Santana told the New York Daily News. "When we came into this season, we had all the right pieces to make it happen. But unfortunately we got hurt, and when that happens, you limit your chances to succeed and to win. "But I believe the first thing that we have to do is to stay healthy. I'm pretty sure the (front) office will do the best they can to improve our team. And I have the confidence we have the right guys to do it, but we have to stay healthy. That's the main key to be successful next year." The left-hander added that he doesn't anticipate missing any time next spring. "To be ready for spring training will be the goal, and I don't see any problems to do that," Santana said.
