With Chien Ming-Wang set to make his second rehab start at Triple-A on Sunday, Phil Hughes could be pitching for a spot in New York's rotation on Friday night. Hughes is 0-2 with a 17.49 ERA after throwing six shutout innings against the Tigers in late April. "He needs to get back to his strengths," manager Joe Girardi said of Hughes. "If he gets in an inning that is not necessarily going his way, be able to stop it. You can give them one or two, but you can't give them any more. It's hard to come back from seven or eight. Hopefully he learns a lot from the last start."
