Yankees general manager Brian Cashman has said that he isn't optimistic about finding a replacement for Alex Rodriguez, and a frozen payroll could be the reason why. Rodriguez will miss at least the first month of the season, and many expected the Yankees to trade for or sign a stopgap until the former MVP returns to the field. Comments Cashman made recently about the organization's desire to keep their payroll where it is appear to be the reason why he hasn't made any moves. "With the team not wanting add payroll, not wanting to hurt the farm system and stuff like that, and we're going to get Alex back, we're going to go with what we have in camp," Cashman said.
