Harold Reynolds, MLB Network analyst and former Seattle Mariners teammate of Ken Griffey Jr., revealed on Wednesday that Willie Mays was involved in Griffey?s reported decision to return to the Mariners next season. ?Obviously, he met with his dad, Ken Griffey Sr. and he has been bombarded by friends and different players from all over the league calling him, trying to help him make this decision. Late today, Willie Mays calls him. ?Willie basically said, ?Ken, at the end of the day, at the end of your career, your legacy is going to be with the Seattle Mariners.? And it really hit home with him. And I think that really made him understand that Seattle is the place that he needs to be. His heart has always been there. I know for the ten years he was in Cincinnati, he continued to follow the Mariners.?
