Outfielders Jason Bay and Manny Ramirez had virtually the same statistics on Wednesday night in their respective playoff games. Ramirez, who the Red Sox traded to the Dodgers in July, went 2-for-4 with two runs and a solo home run in the seventh inning against the Cubs. Bay, who Boston got in return by way of Pittsburgh, went 2-for-4 with one run scored and a two-run home run in the sixth inning against the Angels. Bay's home run gave the Red Sox a 2-1 lead, an advantage they never relinquished en route to a 4-1 win. Manny's home run tacked an insurance run on L.A.'s lead as they defeated the favored Cubs 7-2 at Wrigley Field. Both teams were victorious on the road. Manny, however, definitely had the better offensive impact during the latter part of the season. Bay hit .293 with 9 home runs and 37 RBI in 49 games and 184 at-bats in Boston. Ramirez hit .396 with 17 home runs and 53 RBI in 53 games and 187 at-bats in Los Angeles. In comparison, he hit .299 with 20 homers and 68 RBI in 100 games and 365 at-bats with the Red Sox in 2008.
