The Red Sox clinched a playoff berth on Tuesday night with a tight 5-4 win over the Indians.
Boston can still catch Tampa Bay for the AL Title but are assured of winning at least the Wild Card. In the process, New York has officially been eliminated from the postseason race.
Tim Wakefield allowed four runs over six innings, but the Boston bullpen kept Cleveland in check to earn the victory.
The Yankees were victorious, as well, winning their six-straight game but simply built too big of a hole to climb out of late in the season.
