Strasburg Conducts First Workout With Nats

Stephen Strasburg conducted his first workout with the Nationals on Sunday.

The first overall pick in June's First-Year Entry draft went through a 45-minutes workout with Washington at the team's spring training complex.

He has been followed closely by the media.

"I thought I'd get a little bit of peace out here on the field, but you guys are following me everywhere," Strasburg told the Washington Post. "It's something I guess I gotta deal with. I guess it just goes with the territory."

Dodgers Acquire Belliard From Nationals

The Dodgers have landed infielder Ronnie Belliard from the Nationals in exchange for minor league pitcher Luis Garcia.

Los Angeles will also send Washington a player to be named later.

Belliard started the season slow, but has picked it up lately and is hitting .367 in August.

"He gives us some offense," Dodgers manager Joe Torre said. "He can play around the infield, probably all positions but shortstop. It gives me the ability to spell these guys. He gives us a little more depth with experience coming off the bench."

For the second consecutive year, the Nationals could secure the top overall pick in the MLB Amateur Draft.

The prize this season will be Bryce Harper.

But Kansas City also has a chance to finish the 2009 season with the worst record in baseball.

Since May 7, the Royals are 30-67, and they have won only one of their last 17 series.
