A's Look At Nick Johnson's Medical Records

The A's have examined Nationals first baseman Nick Johnson's medical records, but the clubs have not seriously discussed a trade.

If Washington signs free-agent Mark Teixeira, Johnson would become expendable.

The news was first reported by FOXSports.com. The source also said that several other teams have Johnson's medical records.

Teixeira Has Interest In Nationals

Mark Teixeira is from Maryland and is thinking about the possibility of playing in Washington for the Nationals.

"[Maryland] is his home," said the source. "In some instances, I think players often tend to look at that in a different light than other franchises."

Nats Might Offer Teixeira $150M?

The Nationals believe they will be serious players in the Mark Teixeira sweepstakes, according to team and league sources, and are believed to be preparing an offer they feel will be competitive with the others Teixeira is likely to receive.

In other words, it would almost certainly be north of $100 million, if not $150 million.
