Ayala Traded To The Mets

The Nationals traded right-handed relief pitcher Luis Ayala to the Mets on Sunday morning for a player to be named later, but that player is expected to be infielder Anderson Hernandez.

Ayala requested the trade weeks ago because he wanted a change of scenery, due to personal problems.

Independent Team Signs Nats' Top Pick

Right-hander Aaron Crow, taken by the Nationals with the ninth overall pick in the draft, has signed a deal with the Fort Worth Cats of the American Association, according to The Associated Press.

The Cats will pitch Crow out of the bullpen unless he agrees to a deal with the Nationals before Friday's midnight deadline for draft picks to sign.

Nationals Interested In Re-Signing Harris

The Nationals are interested in re-signing infielder/outfielder Willie Harris, according to three baseball sources close to MLB.com.

Harris has a .248 batting average with a career-high nine home runs and 28 RBIs this season.

It's not known what kind of deal Harris is looking for, but the parties have not had serious talks yet.
