Bautista Has Been Given 16 Drug Tests Over Last Two Years

Major League Baseball conducts random drug testing as part of the fallout from a tainted stretch in 1990s.

Either Jose Bautista is extremely lucky or someone has suspicions about him, because the Blue Jays slugger says he has been tested 16 times over the last two years.

Bautista made the remark at a banquet in the Dominican Republic, according to a report in Spanish published in the Dominican newspaper "Hoy."

He said that he had been tested nine times in 2010, the year he led the majors with 54 homers, and was tested seven times last season when he hit another 43 home runs.

In the two previous seasons, he had only been tested three times, Bautista said.

'Good Chance' Rangers Trade Uehara

There is a "pretty good chance" that the Rangers will trade Koji Uehara soon, according to Major League sources.

Texas would like to receive prospects in return for the right-handed reliever.

It was reported earlier this week that Uehara rejected a trade to the Blue Jays.

Uehara Refuses Trade To Blue Jays

The Rangers attempted to trade Koji Uehara to the Blue Jays on Tuesday, but the reliever rejected the deal.

Uehara has a limited no-trade clause, but Toronto is one of the six teams on the list.

He is set to make $4 million this season and the Rangers continue to try and trade him.

Blue Jays May Look To Add Reliever

The Blue Jays are unlikely to make another significant move this offseason, but they may look to add a reliever.

"I wouldn't expect us to do anything else. Maybe adding a reliever is probably the only thing I think we have a chance at doing," general manager Alex Anthopoulos said.
