Jays Hope Encarnacion Doesn't Stay In Vegas Long

Edwin Encarnacion doesn't appear angry about his demotion.

?It's one of those things that happen,? said the 27-year-old Encarnacion, who was optioned to Triple-A Sunday and reported to the Las Vegas 51s on Wednesday. ?I wasn't expecting it, but it's part of the game.?

The Blue Jays are hoping a change of scene will allow Encarnacion to get his rhythm back on the field.

Jays Won't Get Snider Back Soon

The Blue Jays aren't expected to get outfielder Travis Snider back before the All-Star break.

Snider, who is recovering from a right wrist injury, was hitting .241 with six home runs and 15 RBIs through 33 games.

"Without giving a specific date," general manager Alex Anthopoulos said, "and I don't think we have one, I think at this point it'd be after the All-Star break. We're getting so close to the All-Star break. He's obviously going to have to get into some rehab games to get his timing down and all that kind of stuff.

"I think it'll be something we'll evaluate at the All-Star break and have a better sense when we get back."
