Halladay Has Worst Outing In Two Years

The Rays tagged Roy Halladay for eight runs, seven of them earned, in six innings on Monday night.

"He's arguably the best pitcher in the game," Tampa Bay first baseman Carlos Pena told the Associated Press. "His stuff is nasty. It's very hard to just make contact. It does feel good to be able to come out on top because we know we're going up against the best."

The Rays defeated the Blue Jays 12-7 at Rogers Centre.

Halladay has lost four of his past six outings, including two straight.

"It just gets back to making pitches, it really does," he said. "It's that simple. When you don't, they cost you. That's really all I can say."

The seven earned runs were the most he has allowed since June 5, 2007 when he allowed the Rays to score the same amount in a game that Toronto won 12-11.

Blue Jays general manager J.P. Ricciardi isn't sure whether Roy Halladay will be on the trade market this winter.

Ricciardi made an appearance on WEEI in Boston on Wednesday, discussing the Halladay situation.

"It's too early for us to even think about that," Ricciardi said, noting that the team's financial situation for the 2010 season is unclear at this point.
